Lake Bled summer holidays are the stuff of fairy tales.
Forest trails, castles, and postcard-perfect panoramas.
Slovenia at its most magical.
Iconic lake views and fairytale alpine magic
Endless outdoor adventures
Cake, castles, and candlelit nights
If swimming in a warm, clear lake surrounded by fairytale forests, snow-kissed mountains and a cliff-top castle sounds too special to be true, you clearly haven’t been to Lake Bled in summer… yet.
Here, in Slovenia’s most enchanting summer hideaway, life slows to a joyful pace: tranquil morning lake swims, mountaintop picnics, and evenings spent watching candlelight ripple across the water. Whether you're hiking up to jaw-dropping viewpoints, paddling to a tiny island with a wishing bell, or simply eating your bodyweight in traditional cream cake, Bled is a true alpine daydream.
It’s a compact, car-lite, postcard-picturesque resort with charming vibes and perfect weather (think 25–30°C in July). Add a generous splash of lakeside festivals, paddleboarding, and picnic spots, and you’ve got the ultimate summer alpine break - all wrapped up in one sparkling Slovenian package.
The icing on the (cream) cake is the Julian Alps Bled Card - a summer tourist perk provided free by many local hotels (we’ll show you which ones) if you’re staying three or more nights. It’s packed with freebies and discounts to help you experience more for less - from activities and attractions, to transport, bike hire and even restaurants. Result!

Cycling & Mountain biking
Two wheels, one dreamy destination, and a whole lot of views. Bled is brilliant for cycling, whether you’re looping the lake or heading out into the Julian Alps. The Lakeside Loop - An easy, breezy stunner of a 6km ride around the lake with swim spots. Great for casual cyclists or a kid-friendly spin.
Radovljica Route - An 8km ride through pretty countryside to a medieval town known for gingerbread and chocolate. Sweet in every sense!
Bled to Bohinj - A longer 25km day trip for the keen or e-powered. Takes you through forests, farms, and ends at a serene glacial lake.

Other things to do
Not into walking or biking? No worries! Bled serves up plenty of surprises, from watery thrills to candlelit magic and tobogganing with a view. Add in paddleboarding, mini golf, or day trips to caves and castles, and your summer’s sorted. Take your pick:
Swimming at Velika Zaka - A chilled grassy beach and beautiful swimming spot loved by locals, with floating platforms and epic views.
Summer Toboggan at Straža Hill -Take the chairlift up (no skis needed!), then zoom down a winding 520m track on a (dry) sled. Safe, speedy fun for all ages.
Bled Night Festival - on the penultimate Saturday in July, 15,000 floating candles in eggshells are launched across the lake, followed by fireworks to mark the end of Slovenia’s July-long Bled Days festival. Genuinely magical - and very photogenic!

Where to eat and drink
Eating in Bled is all about hearty alpine flavours, lakeside vibes, and the kind of cream cake that deserves its own fan club. Local beer, good coffee, and wine bars round out the scene - with a side of Slovenian soul. It’s more sunset sips than wild nights, and all the better for it.
Park Café - Home of the original “kremšnita” (Bled cream cake). Relax on the terrace with a slice and a view. Bliss.
Gostilna Pri Planincu - Classic Slovenian comfort food (think goulash, trout and schnitzels) in a warm, rustic setting. Ideal after a big hike.
Restaurant 1906 at Hotel Triglav - Posh plates, wine pairings, and wow-factor views. Treat yourself!
